2024 Prayer
The Power of Prayer
We know that prayer is powerful, and we want to be a praying church. Throughout this year, let us unite in prayer, dedicating each month to a new topic that inspires our hearts and strengthens our spirit.
For the month of DECEMBER, our prayer focus will be on “The Season of Christmas.” It’s easy to get lost in the busyness of the season, but there is so much more God wants for us during this time. We want to pray for others and ourselves that we will not miss Jesus this Christmas. Here are specific things to pray for—personally, as a family, within your BFG, and when we come together as a church family:
- Pray for Hope: For you and/or others struggling with heavy burdens and unanswered questions. Pray for wisdom and light as people journey through a dark and difficult season.
- Pray for Peace: Bring your anxious hearts and those of others before God. Ask Him to grant His peace that surpasses all understanding, steadying hearts and minds. Pray that circumstances would not overshadow the assurance of His presence and faithfulness in every moment.
- Pray for Joy: Pray for a renewed sense of joy for yourself and others who may be overwhelmed by the negativity in the world. Ask God to help us see the beauty and blessings we often overlook, tuning our hearts to the joy that flows from being known, loved, and cherished by Him.
- Pray for Love: Intercede for those, including yourself, who feel isolated or lonely. Thank God for the gift of His presence through Advent, a reminder that we are never alone. Pray that His unconditional love would bring comfort, connection, and the fullness of relationship with Him.
- Pray for Opportunities: Ask God to open doors for you to shine His light in the lives of others. Pray that He would use you to help those searching for meaning and purpose to find it in Christ alone as you point them to His truth and grace.
- Pray for Restoration: Seek God’s healing for broken relationships—within your family or others experiencing distance caused by pain, misunderstandings, or selfishness. Ask Him to use this season to bring reconciliation, forgiveness, and a spirit of unity.
- Pray for Rest: Invite God to help you prioritize rest, allowing you to draw near Him. Pray for moments to unplug, hear His voice, and delight in His presence through Scripture, prayer, and worship. Ask for His renewal in your soul.
- Pray for Your One: Pray specifically for the person God has placed on your heart to invite into the FBC Allen family. Ask that their heart would be open to an invitation and that God would give you the courage and opportunity to connect them to the life and work of the church.
- Pray that You Would Love Where You Live: Lift up the people in your daily and weekly circles—at home, work, school, and your community. Ask God to provide opportunities to love where you live and to make these spaces reflect more of Heaven’s peace, love, and hope.
Our hope is that you will pray for 2-3 specific items each day. If you see God working and answering these prayers, we would love to hear about it.
